ODSP - ( Ontario Disability Support Program )

If you are an ODSP recipient, you have access to catheter coverage by using the MSN form ( Mandatory Special Necessities Benefit ).  The form will allow your doctor to request a specific number of catheters per day and also a specific type or brand of catheter.  If you catheterize 5 times per day, your doctor can complete the form accordingly. 

1. Ask for samples of SpeediCath.  Simply click on the “ Free SpeediCath Samples “ on this page.

2. Talk to your doctor  - ask for a prescription for SpeediCath.  SpeediCath is used once so the prescription will be for 4-5 catheters per day.

3. Ask your doctor to complete and sign the SpeediCath support  letter.  Simply click on the link on this page, download the letter and send it to your doctor.  This letter outlines the issue(s) you are having and why you need to use SpeediCath.

How to request catheter coverage with ODSP:

1. Obtain an MSN form.  Call toll free: 1-888-256-6758 for your nearest ODSP office to mail a form to you.  It is not available online and ODSP will only provide one form per person.

2. Ask your doctor to complete the form based on the number and type of catheters you require per day

3. Ask your doctor to complete a support letter that will advise ODSP why you require that number and type of catheter.  A sample SpeediCath support letter is available here.  

4. Submit the MSN form and support letter to ODSP to request approval for coverage.

5. If approved, take your new prescription to your catheter supplier and ask them to bill ODSP directly.

Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities ( ACSD )

The Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities provides funding for some of the extra costs of caring for a child with a disability.  Like the need for catheters for bladder management.  Families may be eligible for funding up to $450 a month to assist with such costs. Eligibility and how much funding a family receives depends on the family’s income, severity of the disability, difficulties the child has with walking, communicating and feeding. 

The Easter Seals Society Ontario delivers an incontinence supply program for families of children with severe disabilities where the disability results in chronic incontinence. Under the Easter Seals program, children (aged 3-5) are eligible for $400 and children (aged 6-17) are eligible for $900 in incontinence supplies, in two semi-annual instalments. Applicants should contact Easter Seals at 1-888-377-5437.

If you qualify, you may be eligible to get support from both the ACSD as well as Easter Seals.
