Is your skin moist?

Moist skin may make it difficult for the barrier to stick, or may cause it to detach from your skin. Barriers are generally designed to manage moisture. However, extensive moisture from sweat, oils from your skin, or output from the stoma itself may cause the barrier to break down, ultimately resulting in leakage and skin irritation.

  • If the moisture is due to excessive sweat / perspiration, it may help to use a neutral anti-perspirant roll-on in the area typically covered by your barrier (if you try this tip, be sure the anti-perspirant is completely dry before applying your barrier!)
  • It may help to use a different barrier adhesive formulated to be more durable, e.g. SenSura® Xpro.
