Programs for Persons with Disabilities: The Special Assistance Program
Provides medical equipment & supplies (such as dressings, catheters and incontinence supplies) to assist with activities of daily living for individuals living in the community who meet the criteria. The program is administered through the Department of Health & Community Services. Individuals should contact their regional health authority.
Special Child Welfare Allowance program
Helps with the cost of services/support to families with a child (under the age of eighteen years) who has a physical or intellectual disability living at home. The assistance is designed to enable families to purchase items and/or services which are necessary due to the child’s disability. The amount of monthly assistance for each family is determined through a financial needs test. Individuals should contact their regional health authority.

Those receiving income support through the Department of Advanced Education and Skills – Income Support can be eligible for health related services including medical supplies.
