Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL)

Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) assists Albertans with a long-term disability, chronic illness or terminal illness, in maintaining independence in their community. AADL provides funding for basic medical equipment and supplies to meet clinically assessed needs.

Funding for ostomy supplies is provided for those with a chronic functioning colostomy, urostomy or ileostomy. AADL will provide maximum funding amounts for ostomy products and quantity limits. Specific criteria available AADL – Program manual and product lists | Alberta.ca

Nurses Specialized in Wound Ostomy and Continence (NSWOCC) and Nurse Continence Advisor’s (NCA) may submit requests for additional supplies and above quantity and frequency limitations, pending clinical rationale, by calling Alberta Blue Cross for prior approval. Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)

Financial and health benefits for eligible Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.

To be eligible for AISH, you must meet age, residency, medical and financial criteria.  Learn more about eligibility requirements for AISH at:  https://www.alberta.ca/aish-eligibility.aspx

Approved recipients may be entitled to a living allowance, child benefit and/or health benefits, including exemption from the cost share amount of AADL-approved items.
